Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett downplayed the comments of cornerback DeAngelo Hall, who said he intends to target the cracked rib Dallas quarterback Tony Romo might play with on Monday.

Haslett reasoned that the rules limit where quarterbacks can be hit, anyway.

?You think about it ? he?s not allowed to hit him in the head and you can?t hit him below the knees so there?s really only one place he can hit him,? Haslett said. ?Realistically, [the ribs] are the only place you can hit a quarterback now.?

Haslett thought Hall was ?joking more than anything.?

Romo might play with a fractured rib but there remains concern about his punctured lung.

?Romo is a tough-minded guy so he?ll be ready to roll,? Haslett said.

Hall has started the season in strong fashion, posting 14 tackles and two quarterback break-ups (according to the coaching staff?s statistics).

?I think he?s played excellent both in the run and the pass,? Haslett said. ?The turnovers haven?t come his way yet, but they will because of the scheme and he?ll be ready to capitalize when they do come.?

Pleased With Helu
After playing only two snaps against the Giants, rookie running back Roy Helu played 26 of 82 snaps in the win over Arizona. He rushed 10 times for 74 yards.

?He gave us a good change of pace,? offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said. ?He played very hard and when he came in there, he was fresh, rested and ready to go. He ran hard, he ran strong and he did a helluva job for us.?

Shanahan said Tim Hightower might have been used too much (63 of 65 snaps) in the opener. His workload was decreased to 56 snaps.

?It all depends on the flow of the game and how things are going,? Shanahan said. ?It was exciting with how good he did and we?ll obviously more encouraged to get him in there more.?

Garrett?s Head Start
Cowboys coach Jason Garrett went 5-3 as the interim coach last year, giving owner Jerry Jones a chance to evaluate him and Garrett a chance to establish his philosophy. That was especially important considering there was no off-season.

?I think experience in anything certainly helps you,? Garrett said. ?It was good to get out there and get ourselves going down a path about how we want to do things, both on a daily basis and in the big picture.?
