The Disneys want back in to Major League Baseball.
According to Bill Shaikin of the LA Times, the family of the late Roy Disney, a nephew of Walt Disney, has formed a partnership with investment banker Stanley Gold in an effort to purchase the Dodgers from outgoing owner Frank McCourt.
They?ll be one of many high-profile groups in the running for the club, which could fetch a purchasing price of well over $1 billion. Other expected bidders include?Magic Johnson,?Joe Torre,?Mark Cuban,?Peter O?Malley?and Steven Cohen.
The Walt Disney Co. owned the Angels in 2002 when that team beat the Giants in the World Series.
