UCR?s?annual Block Party festival will be held at the Carillon Tower lawn on Sept. 23 from 5-9?p.m. Featured artists include?Dev, The Cataracts and big Sean. Various student organizations will be at Block Party with informational and interactive booths alongside a variety of food booths and trucks. there will also be an assortment of attractions including a student organization performance showcase, photo booths, face painting, caricatures and henna tattoos. Additionally, the Student Recreation Center will be hosting an after party from?9pm-1am, with a $5 cover charge.?UCR?ID is required for entrance.

Through Oct. 8, the?UCR?Sweeney Art Gallery will feature ?The great Picture: The World?s Largest Photograph & The Legacy Project,? an exhibition showcasing the successful campaign to make the world?s largest camera and photograph. On a scale of 32 x 111 feet, the photo has earned its place in the?Guiness?Book of World Records.

From Oct. 9-Dec. 10, 2011, the Sweeney Gallery will be featuring ?JEFF & GORDON:PlayAgainst.??JEFF & GORDON are a collaborative team of artists that explore social interactions. Also from Oct. 9-Dec. 10, David?Leapman?will be displaying a collection of large-scale paintings called ?Journeys to Recover Your?Future.??Milo??Karadagli??will be playing a live classical guitar performance on Oct. 16 from 5-7?p.m.

On Nov. 5 from 8-9:30?p.m. the Grammy-nominated Creole Choir of Cuba will be performing at the University?Theatre.

The California Museum of Photography is hosting many events and exhibits for fall. ?California Trees? features highlights from a 1932 exhibit in San Francisco, demonstrating the shift in style from the dreamy romanticism of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century to a more crisp, detailed focus. The original ?California Trees? photos are now in the?CMP?s?permanent collection and feature work from?Ansel?Adams, Willard Van Dyke, Alma?Lavenson?and Brett Weston. The exhibit will be hosted until Dec. 31, 2011.

Beginning Oct. 1, the?CMP?will also be hosting ?Aftershocks? and ?Seismic Shifts? which strive to update the photographic historical record of landscapes.
