The Davis Dirt's Street Food Rodeo Returns - Davis, CA Patch

Round 2 of the Davis Dirt?s admission-free Street Food Rodeo is set for Sept. 21 at 6th and G streets from 4 to 9 p.m.

The day will consist of face painting, juggling, straw bale seating and valet bike parking, in addition to food vendors from all over the region.

Editors of the local events calendar hosted their first Street Food Rodeo?in June. This month's festival?will feature food trucks and carts from Davis, Sacramento, Lodi, Vacaville and Woodland.

HERE'S THE FULL FOOD LINEUP!

This is the second street truck festival to hit Davis this month. The first:?Barefoot on the Pitch ? a collection of?Sacramento food trucks, local beer, wine and live music ? came to the Davis Legacy Soccer Club fields Sept. 8.

Annie Meckstroth, who acts as editor of the Davis Dirt, along with Melanie Gentles, said although participants are still being finalized, this time around there will be about 50 percent more vendors.

?It?s a way to bring food vendors and mobile food to Davis,? Meckstroth said. ?It?s something we?re doing to create more excitement and fun in town. We promote local events [at the Davis Dirt] and this is our attempt to do our own event.?

According to Meckstroth, in addition to the expanded food vendor list, this second rodeo will include a little bit more entertainment.

Those waiting in line for sustenance can watch street performers or listen to recorded music to pass the time. They can also catch the Sacramento County Dance Society?s contra dance ? a community dance that includes couples dancing in two facing lines ? twice during the night.

The event will also function as a fundraiser for the Davis School Garden Program for Cesar Chavez, Fairfield, Patwin and Birch Lane elementary schools. ?

Meckstroth said she and Gentles were eager to host a second rodeo, but didn?t want the rainy winter months to interfere with its success, and they didn't want to wait until next spring. September made the most sense for the two.

The organizers encourage attendees to bring their own re-usable cups and dishes to limit waste. Yolo Federal Credit Union is sponsoring the event.
